Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Deprotection of aldehyde dimethylhydrazones was accomplished by stirring a solution containing the aldehyde dimethylhydrazone, THF, and 50% aqueous glyoxylic acid at room temperature. The reaction time for the deprotection of aldehyde dimethylhydrazones varied with the structure of the aldehyde. Even unsaturated aldehydes were regenerated using this very mild method.
