Technical Abstract: In response to the need for assessing the benefits and limitations of agricultural conservation management practices, USDA-ARS is coordinating an effort to evaluate these practices on a national scale in 12 benchmark watersheds. This assessment is in conjunction with the USDA-NRCS CEAP (Conservation Effects Assessment Project) program. In the first phase this assessment, effects of conservation practices on water quality will be addressed. This paper provides an overview of ARS' involvement in CEAP.
