Technical Abstract:
Catecholamines are in the Amine class of neurotransmitters and include: epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine. These catecholamines are important in how the body responds to stress. All three are synthesized from tyrosine in sympathetic nerve cells, and are derived sequentially from one another, through the conversion of dopamine to norepinephrine, which in turn can be converted to epinephrine.
