NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN REPRODUCTION AND INCUBATION OF BROILER CHICKENS. Spotted Cow Press, Edmonton, AB. 400 pp. 13:65-70. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: The rate of ovarian large yellow follicle recruitment is a primary cause of reproductive problems seen in broiler breeder flocks. This chapter discusses how feeding level and body size at the time of sexual maturity affect the ovarian morphology and reproductive hormone concentration of broiler breeder hens. It shows that feeding level and body size can both alter ovary development by changing reproductive hormones, and stresses the need for good flock uniformity at the onset of lay. |
