WHITE FOOD CORN: 2002 PERFORMANCE TEST. MISSOURI SPECIAL REPORT 547. UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI, COLUMBIA, MO. 2002. 69 p.

Technical Abstract: Seed producers, white corn millers, and farmers need performance data to select white seeded corn hybrids adapted for growing in specific regions in the U.S. The 2002 Late White Food Corn Performance Test included 21 white hybrids and three yellow checks submitted by seven commercial seed producers. Nine white hybrids were new to the test in 2002. Thirteen locations were planted in the agronomic evaluation. Four white hybrids yielded significantly more than the mean for all entries (127.3 bu/a): Pioneer Brand 32T78 (150.7 bu/a), Zimmerman 1851W (150.1 bu/a), Pioneer Brand 32A85 (141.7 bu/a), and Zimmerman WX7901 (140.5 bu/a). An additional two white hybrids and a yellow check did not differ significantly from the top-yielding hybrid: Pioneer Brand 32W86 (139.7 bu/a, yellow check), Monsanto EXP 265W (138.1 bu/a), and Pioneer Brand 33T17 (137.1 bu/a). The 2002 Early White Food Corn Performance Test included 17 white hybrids and three yellow checks submitted by eight commercial seed producers. Seven white hybrids were new to the test. Fourteen total locations were planted in the agronomic evaluation. Two white hybrids and two yellow checks yielded significantly more than the average entry: the yellow check Pioneer Brand 32W86 (180.0 bu/a), Pioneer Brand 33T17 (171.9 bu/a), the yellow check Pioneer Brand 3394 (161.8 bu/a), and Pioneer Brand 32A85 (160.9 bu/a). Not differing significantly from the highest-yielding hybrid was only Pioneer Brand 33T17 (171.9 bu/a). Included among hybrids that yielded significantly lower than the average entry were Guelph CGX010W (129.6 bu/a), the yellow check B73×Mo17 (127.7 bu/a), Guelph CGX013W (118.8 bu/a), and Guelph CGX004W (113.2 bu/a).
