Technical Abstract: A review of the book The New Chemistry (edited by Nina Hall) was prepared. This book contains 17 chapters describing the major advances made in chemistry during the past 30 years, with each chapter being written by distinguished chemists (including four Nobel laureates). The book is exceptionally well written and illustrated and should be of great interest to all chemists. Aside from the lucid description of the advances made in the last 30 years, the book also addresses the importance of conveying the usefulness and importance of chemistry to the average citizen.
