Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the application of feedlot runoff (effluent) to forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor). Feedlot effluent was applied to 18 plots of forage sorghum at the USDA-ARS at Bushland, TX. Treatments of effluent were application rates of 0, 25, and 50 cm/yr. Dry matter yield increased with effluent application rates, however, none of the mean dry matter yields were statistically different. Mean dry matter yields were 5937, 7277.5, and 8749 kg/ha at application rates of 0, 25, and 50 cm/yr, respectively. Nitrogen, NH4-N, NO3-N, P, and K did not differ statistically in either the soil or the plant concentrations.
