Technical Abstract: Labels for some crop protection products specify that the material must be applied in a spray quality classified, for example, as "Medium" spray. As new products are registered and more existing products are reregistered, it is reasonable to expect more product labels will specify a spray quality for application. Consequently, applicators will need to know the spray quality delivered by their spraying system for every combination of nozzle, pressure, etc., they may use in their operation. Spray quality needs to become part of every applicator's understanding. There are several sources that applicators can reference for spray quality information -- technical literature, nozzle manufacturer's literature and World Wide Web home pages, Spray Drift Task Force database and models, and aerial nozzle models. Several aerial nozzle models will be presented to help applicators understand the meaning and utility of spray quality for aerial application of crop protection products.
