Technical Abstract:
Most plants have hairs, or trichomes, on their surface that serve a number of functions including heat and moisture conservation and defense from herbivores. There are two main types of trichome, glandular which produce o store liquid exudates, and non-glandular or simple hairs. The glandular trichomes of some plants produce commercially important substances and in the future greater use could be made of these products.
