Interpretive Summary: This is the second part of the proceedings from a workshop entitled: Preserving a Healthy Fruit Crop Industry in the United States. This workshop was sponsored by the American Pomological Society in collaboration with the Fruit Breeding Working Group and the Pomology Working Group of the American Society for Horticultural Science on Saturday, July 26, 1997. The first part of the proceedings were published in Fruit Varieties Journa volume 52, number 4, and included presentations from growers and researchers related to difficulties in plant importation through the U.S. quarantine system. Presentations from staff members of the USDA-ARS National Plant Germplasm Quarantine Office is presented in Part II.
