Interpretive Summary: Lepidoptera species of the Fiji Islands were surveyed by light traps for the ectoparasitic nematode Noctuidonema. Noctuidonema spp. were found infesting moths of four species: Chrysodeixis eriosoma, Mocis frugalis, Mocis trifosciata, and Spodoptera litura. This is the first report of Noctuidonema spp. from the Pacific Basin.

Technical Abstract: Examination of nine species of Lepidoptera captured at an ultraviolet light trap in Suva, Fiji, demonstrated the presence of the ectoparasitic nematode, Noctuidonema, in four species. Species positive for nematodes include Chrysodeixis eriosoma, Mocis frugalis, Mocis trifasciata, and Spodoptera litura. Species negative for nematodes include Anomis nigritarsis, Anticarsia irrorata, Chasmina candida, Polydesma boarmoides, and Spodoptera mauritia. To our knowledge, this is the first report of Noctuidonema parasitizing Lepidoptera adults in the Pacific Basin.
