Interpretive Summary: Data from five laboratories were used to construct a 55 cM framework linkage map of bovine chromosome 23. Twelve of the 28 contributed loci were ordered on the framework map with a high level of statistical support. The remaining 16 loci were ordered within the framework markers. Framework maps with high statistical support for locus order will enhance ordering of additional loci as they are added to the map. The four large pedigrees used to build this framework map can be used for constructing future framework maps for the remaining bovine chromosomes.
