Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The soil surface volumetric water content has been identified as an important parameter in the volatilization of pesticides from the soil surface. Presently there is no known non-destructive method of measuring this important parameter. A specialized TDR probe will be presented along with a calibration curve of soil surface volumetric water content vs. soil dielectric that has the potential of non-destructively measuring the soil surface volumetric water content.
