Register of new fruit and nut cultivars. List 48. HortScience 51(6):620-652. Interpretive Summary: Information on origin, and important characteristics of new fruit tree rootstocks for use with apricot and plum varieties are provided. This information is useful to breeders, extension personnel, nurserymen and growers. Technical Abstract: New clonal Prunus hybrid rootstocks for apricot and plums offer improved adaptation to site related problems including soil borne diseases, waterlogging, calcareous soils and various species of nematodes. Additionally, they offer varying degrees of vigor control compared to standard seedling and clonal types which provide significant reductions in pruning, thinning, picking and the use of ladders. |
