Interpretive Summary: Salmonella enterica is an important foodborne pathogen that causes gastroenteritis in humans. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica Serovar Kiambu is rarely associated with human illness in the U.S. and has been found only sporadically in U.S. food animals. To collect information on the genome structure of this rare serovar, the genome of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Kiambu strain CRJJGF_61 isolated from cattle in 2004 was sequenced and the 4.58 Mbp draft genome sequence reported. To our knowledge this is the first genome sequence of serovar Kiambu made publicly available to the scientific community.

Technical Abstract: Here, we report a 4.58 Mbp draft genome sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Kiambu strain CRJJGF_61 isolated from cattle in 2004.
