Interpretive Summary: Xylella fastidiosa is a bacterial pathogen causing diseases in many economically important plants. One of them is oak leaf scorch disease in U.S. To better understand the disease for future effective control, this study sequenced the genome of the disease pathogen isolated from Griffin, Georgia.

Technical Abstract: The draft genome sequence of Xylella fastidiosa subsp. multiplex Strain Griffin-1 isolated from a red oak tree (Quercus rubra) in Georgia, U.S.A. is reported. The bacterium has a genome size of 2,387,314 bp with 51.7% G+C content and comprises 2,903 predicted open reading frames (ORFs), and 50 RNA genes.
