Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Herbicide absorption and translocation in plants is a key component in the study of herbicide physiology, mode of action, selectivity, resistance mechanisms, and in the registration process. Radioactive herbicides have been in use for over half-a-century in the research and study of herbicide absorption and translocation in plants. An organized description and standardization of research procedures and methodology on this intensively studied topic is lacking in the literature. A recent review on analytical methods of herbicide absorption data attempted to fill some of this gap. However, a resource that comprehensively addresses current research methods and protocols in the study of herbicide uptake and movement is desperately needed. This article attempts to serve as a starting go-to-source for standard operating procedures of research in the study of absorption and translocation in plants using radiolabeled herbicides.
