Technical Abstract: This is a review of intestinal coccidiosis in cats and dogs. Coccidia are single celled parasites of mammals and birds. There are many species of coccidian that parasitize dogs and cats, and some of these are zoonotic. These parasites are normally found in intestines and are passed in a resistant stage in feces called oocyst. In the present paper Dubey and Greene review present knowledge about Isospora, Besnoitia, and Sarcocystis infections in dogs and cats.. This review will be of interest to biologists, parasitologists, and veterinarians.
