Technical Abstract: Lewis acid catalyst, boron trifluoride diethyl etherate (BF3•OEt2), catalyzed polymerization of epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) in liquid carbon dioxide was conducted in an effort to develop useful biodegradable polymers. The ring-opening polymerization was employed at mild conditions, such as at room temperature. The resulting polymers were characterized and reported.
