Interpretive Summary: 'Florida Elyana' is a new strawberry variety released by the University of Florida and well adapted for winter and spring production areas. It is recommended to be grown under protected culture as the fruit may be susceptible to rain cracking. 'Florida Elyana' produces large bright red fruit which have received consistently superior flavor ratings by a taste panel over three seasons.

Technical Abstract: 'Florida Elyana' strawberry (Fragaria xananassa Duch.) is a new strawberry cultivar released by the University of Florida. It is a short-day plant. It is susceptible to surface cracking from exposure to rain. However, it performs well under protected culture. It is the first Florida-bred cultivar designed for tunnel and greenhouse production. 'Florida Elyana' is moderately resistant to Botrytis and anthracnose fruit rots. 'Florida Elyana' produces larger fruit than 'Strawberry Festival', which is the predominant cultivar in Florida. It produces large bright red fruit which have received consistently superior flavor ratings by a taste panel over three seasons.
