Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The complexity of the biological, chemical, and physical interactions occurring in the volume of soil surrounding the root of a growing plant dictates that a multidisciplinary approach must be taken to improve our understanding of this rhizosphere. Hence, "The Rhizosphere: Biochemistry and Organic Substances at the Soil-Plant Interface, Second Edition" incorporates the work of scientists involved in soil biology and chemistry, plant biochemistry, physiology, and cell biology, as well genomics, microbial ecology, and phytopathology, to name a few. The book has been available for more than one year and updates the first edition, published in 2001. It contains approximately 450 pages and is organized into 14 chapters. A useful index follows the final chapter. In my opinion, this book can be a valuable reference to anyone with an interest in rhizosphere processes.
