Interpretive Summary: Bird cherry-oat aphid feeds on barley, oats, rye, triticale, and wheat by sucking plant juices. Its feeding may stunt plants and lead to yield loss, but it does not cause symptoms of yellowing and leaf curling. Bird cherry-oat aphid is also a vector of barley yellow dwarf virus. Biological, cultural, and chemical management approaches are briefly discussed with regard to this aphid. Action thresholds and information on insecticide products are presented.
