Technical Abstract:
We have been using a set of TeQing-into-Lemont introgression lines to fine-map sheath blight resistance QTL. In the course of dissection a QTL region previously mapped on chromosome 9, we discovered a gene for spreading culms (or open plant-type) residing in one half of the QTL region, while the sheath blight locus appears to reside in the other half.
