Interpretive Summary: Crown gall disease occurs on diverse dicotyledonous and gymnospermous plant species worldwide. Reports of crown gall on hop date back to at least 1929, and the disease has been reported from most countries where hop is or has been grown commercially. The epidemiology of the causal bacterium, Agrobacterium tumefaciens, has not been investigated thorough on hop. A review of the body of knowledge on the causal bacterium and crown gall disease is presented.
