Technical Abstract: Research directed at discovering and developing new ways to use cotton, new and valuable end use attributes and new functional properties will expand the volume and value of cotton fiber through increased demand for cotton containing products. The Cotton Utilization Research at the USDA Southern Regional Research Center in New Orleans, Louisiana is focused on developing new chemistries for functional finishes, new end use applications and new processes for cotton fiber. A review of research areas will emphasize current and future research directions.
