Technical Abstract: The potential benefits of cover crops in vegetable production systems depend on the type of cover crop that is used and how it is managed from planting to termination date. This chapter focuses on management practices that are applicable to a broad range cover crops and vegetable production systems in California. An overview of field preparation and planting, seeding rate, nutrient management, irrigation, and end of season management are presented and discussed.
