Aerosol insecticides for insect pest management in food warehouses and flour mills [abstract]. NCB-ESA North Central Branch Entomological Society of America, Winnipeg, Ontario, Canada, March 25-28, 2007. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: With the impending phase-out of the fumigant methyl bromide, the use of aerosol insecticides is becoming more common in food warehouses and flour mills. However, when applying aerosols in large commercial structures, there are a number of factors that could be encountered that will affect final efficacy of the aerosol. These include but are not limited to target pest species, the specific insecticide formulation, distribution of the aerosol, and the level of sanitation in the facility. Data from research studies will be used to illustrate how these various environmental and biological factors will affect performance of aerosol insecticides. |
