Technical Abstract: The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) was founded in 1954 in order to promote the protection of all animals. Headquartered in Washington DC and with over 10 million members, the HSUS is the largest animal protection organization in the world. It works primarily in the U.S. but also around the world to reduce animal suffering and create a meaningful social change for animals by advocating public policy, investigating cruelty, working to enforce existing laws, and educating the public.
