Technical Abstract: This note announces organizational details of the Third International Solanaceae Conference to be held in Madison Wisconsin on July 23-27, 2006; David Spooner is the local organizer for this event. The entire international Solanaceae community will be meeting together for the first time for this meeting, that will bring together International Solanaceae Conference (its Sixth Meeting, with meetings held every five to six years), the Third Solanaceae Genome Workshop and the Potato Association of America (PAA; its 90th Annual Meeting). The theme of the conference is Solanaceae - Genomics meets Biodiversity. Details of this conference can be viewed at: http://www.hort.wisc.edu/PAA-Solanaceae/. Estimated participants at this joint conference are 500-800. The tomato genomics group and the International Solanaceae Conference meets together as a group on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, as well as the Potato Association of America. Wednesday Satellite Sessions will provide opportunities for focus groups to meet. To date, satellite sessions are being organized for: Application of FISH in Support of Sequencing Plant Genomes; Coffee Genomics; Secondary Metabolism; Tobacco; Tomato sequencing; and Translational Genomics.
