Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The book entitled “Challenges and Strategies of Dryland Agriculture” was reviewed and found to be an interesting collection of related but frequently isolated articles developed about a critically important part of global agriculture. It contains important information that may be useful to plant, soil, and crop scientists investigating methods for improving dryland crop production. This book provides no encompassing summary or synthesis from the included chapters, but the information is efficiently presented, understandable, and well documented with over 1100 reference citations, in aggregate. This book is a potentially good resource to investigators wanting a broad information source on dryland cropping systems, but the user will have to overcome its disconnected topic presentation.
