Technical Abstract: This book provides a comprehensive picture of the state of the art in aflatoxin research and control, with lesser emphasis on other mycotoxins of agricultural significance. It consists of 27 chapters written by outstanding scientists from around the world. It initially considers the world-wide impact of aflatoxins, and then describes recent advances in research on aflatoxin production by A. flavus, and aflatoxin analysis and toxicology. Strategies for controlling aflatoxin production in crops are considered, including development of crop resistance to aflatoxin by conventional breeding, genetic engineering and other approaches, and by post-harvest management of aflatoxin in contaminated foods and feeds.
