Citation: Henry, T.J., Ferreira, P.S. 2005. Froeschneropsidea, a replacement name for the preoccupied genus Froeschnerisca (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae: Deraeocorinae).. Proceedings of the Entomological Society of Washington. 107:735.

Interpretive Summary: Plant bugs represent the largest family of true bugs. Many plant bugs, such as lygus bugs, are important pests causing significant economic losses to agricultural crops. Scientific names are important tools in communicating scientific information about pest species. In this publication, we propose a new name to replace a name that is invalid. This action will alert scientists of the new name and will help to stabilize true bug nomenclature.

Technical Abstract: Froeschneropsidea is provided as a replacement name for the preoccupied generic name Froeschnerisca Henry and Ferreira, 2003. Froeschneropsidea andinus (Carvalho), the type of the genus and only included species, is a new combination.
