Citation: Lapointe, S.L. 2005. Response of Diaprepes abbreviatus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) to application rates of a particle film. Florida Entomologist. 88:222.

Interpretive Summary: Particle films such as Surround are an environmentally benign method to deter some insects and diseases of crops. Feeding and oviposition on citrus leaves by the Diaprepes root weevil declined with increasing rates of application of the particle film in a greenhouse trial. Reduced oviposition appeared to be due to the combined effect of reduced feeding and behavioral deterrence.

Technical Abstract: Feeding and oviposition on citrus leaves by the Diaprepes root weevil was inversely proportional to the rate of application of Surround WP particle film in a greenhouse trial. Reduced oviposition appeared to be due to the combined effect of reduced feeding and behavioral deterrence.
