Technical Abstract: Selected corn germplasm lines were evaluated for fall armyworm [Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith)] and corn earworm [Helicoverpa zea (Boddie)] resistance in the field by artificial infestations. Laboratory leaf and silk feeding bioassays were also conducted to understand the mechanisms of insect resistance. The possibility of these selected corn lines resistant to both foliage- and ear-feeding insect pests was also discussed.
