Interpretive Summary: This is a Germplasm Release, no Interpretive Summary required.
Expressed sequence tag (EST) information derived from small intestine undergoing active parasite infection is critical to functional genomic studies aimed at understanding the bovine mucosal immune system and gut tissue responses (repair, necrosis, etc.). An arrayed, normalized cDNA library (BARC 10BOV) was constructed using a pooled sample of mRNA derived from various tissues induced for the stereotypic Th1 and Th2 immune responses by infection with both site-specific nematode parasites and a protozoan parasite. A total of 21,205 EST were generated from the 10BOV library. These EST serve as a resource for annotating the bovine genome, design of hybridization oligonucleotides for microarray resources, and cDNA clone sources for generating full-length reference sequences in cattle.
