Interpretive Summary: water-based sprayable formulations of biopolymers and additives were developed for in situ use as mulch films, laminates and containers for packaging applications.
Technical Abstract:
The present contribution reports on the preparation, characterization and potential utilization of environmentally degradable polymeric blends and composites based on water soluable/swellable natural and synthetic polymers and fillers from renewable agro-industrial and food industry wastes. The prepared bio-based formulations were converted to mulching films by in situ spraying technology (hydro-biomulching) and laminates and containers for agricultural and food packaging applications. Mechanical testing and biodegradation under different conditions of some items are reported.
