Technical Abstract: The review describes recent developments in detection strategies for fungal toxins. The focus is predominantly on recent advances with biosensors, including evanescent wave technologies (surface plasmon resonance, fiber optic devices), lateral flow and dipstick devices, fluorescence polarization and time-resolved fluorescence, microbead assays, capillary electrophoretic immunoassays, and a description of the challenges faced in the application of these technologies to food analysis.
