Technical Abstract: Three types of sucrose-based epoxies (epoxy allyl-, epoxy methallyl-, and epoxy crotyl sucrose) will be cured using amines, polyamines, amino-amides, amino acids, and anhydrides to illustrate the differences in the curing behaviors of terminal and internal epoxy groups. Thermosets of the sucrose-based epoxies will be characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry, and dynamic mechanical analyses to relate curing mechanisms to ultimate material properties.
