Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The USDA/ARS, National Plant Germplasm System maintains a small ex situ collection of Psidium varieties and species through the Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center, Tropical Plant Genetic Resource Management Unit in Hilo, Hawaii. Scion and seed of guava, along with many tropical fruit germplasm are available for distribution, in small quantity and free of charge, for research and exchange. Future goals of the unit will be focused on developing cooperative efforts with host countries in the collection and exchange in germplasm and to facilitate in situ documentation and conservation of genetic diversity of selected crops.
