Citation: SOMMER, R., WHITE, J.W., WALL, P.C., SAYRE, K.D. 2003. MODEL-BASED ASSESSMENT OF MAIZE-WHEAT CROPPING UNDER CONVENTIONAL AND ZERO-TILLAGE IN HIGHLAND MEXICO. AGRONOMY ABSTRACTS. CD-Rom(A03-Sommer362608-poster). Technical Abstract: Crop-soil simulation models have been used widely and successfully in conventional agriculture. Studies to apply existing models in conservation agriculture, with reduced tillage and/or residue retention, are rare to non-existent. We compared the performance of three different crop-soil simulation models to predict yield, water and N-dynamics of maize and wheat mono-cropping as well as maize-wheat rotation systems under conventional as well as zero-tillage practices in the Mexican highland at CIMMYT headquarters.
