Technical Abstract: Today¿s consumer is more informed than consumers from previous generations. This desire for knowledge about the products they use raises a need for employees to be informed and trained in dealing with consumer concerns. In the egg industry, general topics of concern include: Proper storage, safe handling, food safety, food quality, and animal welfare. There is great diversity in the egg products offered in today¿s market place. In many instances consumers ask for guidance in understanding the variety available. Employees should also understand how to address consumer issues in an informed, yet non-threatening manner.
