Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Permanent meteorological stations have been installed in Northeast Ohio production nurseries to archive weather data during horticultural experiments. Insect and disease management research require detailed knowledge of weather conditions. Data such as soil moisture and temperature, air temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, wind speed, wind direction and barometric pressure directly impact disease and insect development are being recorded. Unique to this cooperative project is that the above research data are also available to growers as displayed on the USDA, ARS, ATRU website. Impacted by the USDA, ARS, ATRU weather station network are studies on soil insects, sprayer efficacy on apple scab disease, nursery crop phenology and plant conditioning.
