Technical Abstract:
Tests have demonstrated that virgin cactus moth females are very effective at attracting conspecific males. Research was conducted to isolate and identify volatile compounds released by cactus moth females. The behavioural activities of 3 putative compounds isolated by various methods are being determined in laboratory. Active compounds will be placed in traps and evaluated in the field to determine the geographical range of this pest.
