Citation: Hake, S.C., Ori, N. 2002. Plant morphogenesis and KNOX genes. Nature Genetics, 31(2):121-122. Interpretive Summary: A review of three recently published papers that integrates this new information with past experiments publsihed by the Hake lab.
Technical Abstract: KNOX genes function in plant meristems, which produce leaves and stems. Three recent studies show that the dwarf phenotype, brevipedicellus, is caused by a recessive mutation in a KNOX gene. A fourth study shows that misexpression of KNOX genes leads to novel features that may have selective value.
