Interpretive Summary: A users guide was developed to educate cooperative extension specialists, agricultural consultants, and growers on how to use the expert system, HarvPro to determine the optimum harvest date for peanuts. The users guide provides information on tools and equipment needed and how to use these items to provide inputs to HarvPro. The users guide also describes the inputs and outputs and overall strategy used in HarvPro to optimize the imputs to maximize the outputs in providing highest yields, grades, quality, and net returns while reducing the risk of aflatoxin. Information is also provided on how to run, troubleshoot, and validate Harvpro.
Technical Abstract: HarvPro users guide provides information, tools, equipment, and procedures needed to run, troubleshoot, validate, and use HarvPro to obtain the optimum peanut harvest date. The users guide describes how the HarvPro takes inputs of hullscrape maturity data, variety, soil type, soil moisture, field history including crop rotation, weather forecasts, pest data, water and soil temperature records, plant health, and other data and provides outputs that help the user obtain a predicted harvest date that will provide the highest yields, grades, quality, flavor, and net returns that also result in the lowest risk of aflatoxin. HarvPro accomplishes this through use of systems research that use the latest science and expert knowledge.
