Technical Abstract: This genus Chloriridovirus is a member of the family Iridoviridae that contains large icosahedral viruses (IVs) with a genome composed of linear double-stranded DNA and contains the Mosquito Iridescent Virus (MIV) designated IIV-3. This comprehensive review of the genus Chloriridovirus covers history, virion morphology, ultrastructural features, genome properties, replication strategy, properties of individual transcripts and proteins, biological properties, diseases and specific information on the type species of the MIV.
