Technical Abstract: This report summarizes research across the world in 2000 that placed additional markers, genes and quantitative trait loci (QTLs) on the chromosome 7H and developed new resources for barley researchers. Markers placed on the map include SSR, REMAP and IRAP markers. QTLs were located for malt quality, head shattering, disease resistance, iron utilization, and other traits. An RFLP map for Hordeum bulbosum was developed and is being used to locate QTL. A 6.3x Morex BAC library is now available, and translocation breakpoints have been located as physical landmarks in linkage maps.
