Technical Abstract: Carbohydrate Biotechnology Protocols follows the format of other volumes in the Methods in Biotechnology**TM series, in which each chapter serves as a working bench manual for a specific protocol, with step-by-step instructions and notes that provide special insider tips. Carbohydrate biotechnology is a broad concept, and a thorough treatment of protocols would be encyclopedic. Rather than focusing on one area of carbohydrate biotechnology, this volume samples 25 diverse topics, ranging from commercially established processes to recent experimental studies. Generally, the individual chapters are well written by subject matter authorities and provide useful insights to the original research literature. The bench manual format of the book perhaps makes it most useful to active researchers interested in the specific protocols selected for this volume.
