Technical Abstract: The dynamic and complex nature of human milk makes breastfeeding the best source of nutrition for healthy, full-term infants. For those infants who are not breastfed, iron-fortified infant formula is the only appropriate alternative. Premature infants also benefit from the use of fortified, expressed breast milk.
