Interpretive Summary: Various dissected tissues and life stages from the horn fly, Haematobia irritans, have been sequenced using Illumina-based technology. These include eggs (0, 2, 4, and 9 hours post-oviposition), adult fly gut, adult fly legs, adult fly malpighian tubules, adult fly ovary, adult fly salivary gland, adult fly testes, pupae (1 and 3 days post onset of pupation), and whole adults (emerging and feeding for 0, 2, 4, and 24 hours). Each corresponding dataset of raw sequence reads has been deposited at NCBI under the BioProject accession number PRJNA30967 and BioSample accession numbers SAMN07830357-SAMN07830372, respectively. The Short Read Archive (SRA) accession numbers are SRR6231654-SRR6231655 and SRR6231658-SRR6231671. USDA is an equal opportunity employer.

Technical Abstract: Illumina HiSeq technology was used to sequence the transcriptome from various dissected tissues and life stages from the horn fly, Haematobia irritans. These samples include eggs (0, 2, 4, and 9 hours post-oviposition), adult fly gut, adult fly legs, adult fly malpighian tubule, adult fly ovary, adult fly salivary gland, adult fly testes, pupae (1 and 3 days post onset of pupation), and whole adults (newly emerged and feeding for 0, 2, 4, and 24 hours).
